Jis Mehfil ko Sajaane nikle the hum,
Waha saazish parasti bahut Aam thi,
Mehroom the unki nafrat se hum,
Warna Hume bewafa thehra de koi; zamaane ki kya majaal thi

Haasid ka muqaabla na kar Saka koi,
Na mar Saka koi na maar saka koi,
Unki koshish humari zillat or haar thi,
Mohabbat ka bosa bhi mahez ek chaal thi…

Khanjar bhokte rahe wo gale lagakar hume
Humare lihaaz or masumiyat ki unhe parwah kahan thi
Har anjuman mai beizzat kya mukhalifon ne hume
Or hum lahoo bahate rahe yahi humari Shaan thi
